Title: RN Staff - Diabetes Educator
Location: Alaska-Anchorage

Providence is calling a registered nurse - diabetes educator for the Diabetes Center at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK.

In this position, you will:
* Provide diabetes education that is based on the needs assessment of the individual and family in both a group setting and on an individual basis.
* Leverage the appropriate educational technology and adult learning methodology to increase knowledge, skills, and competencies of the person with diabetes.
* Possess sufficient diabetes knowledge to provide safe, competent care to persons with or at risk for diabetes.
* Be accountable for the delivery and supervision of safe, quality care that is individualized for the assigned patients and follow the nursing process in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act (assessment, planning implementation, evaluation).
* Access, analyze, customize, coordinate and communicate the patient’s plan of care and activities collaboratively with other members of the health care team. Families and or significant others will be included within the plan of care as appropriate.
* Direct, delegate and manage the care delivered by colleagues and subordinates.
* Perform all duties in a manner that respects and supports the family centered care model.
Qualifications for this position include:
* Must be a graduate of an accredited/approved School of Nursing.
* Must be licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska at time of hire.
* Certified as a diabetes educator through the national Certification Board for Diabetes Educators is preferred or must obtain certification within 2 years of hire.
* One year Registered Nurse experience as a diabetes educator is preferred or minimum of two years Registered Nurse experience in an acute care or outpatient setting.
