The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs basic routine patient care duties and tasks under the supervision of a licensed nurse (RN or LPN or ANP), physician or physician assistant at all times. These duties/tasks center around the patient by assisting them in activities while receiving care. 

In this position, you will:
* Prepare patients for physician encounter by taking vital signs as indicated, recording chief complaint, basic clinic paperwork, point of care testing and preparing appropriate instruments for examination/procedure. 
* Perform procedures such as ear lavage, tympanogram, audiogram, administration of medications, EKG, vision screening, dressing changes, finger stick blood glucose testing, and pulmonary function testing under the direct supervision of the physician.
* Assist providers with procedures such as minor surgical procedures, IUD insertions, orthopedic casting/splinting, pelvic exams, signoidascopy, biopsy and colposcopy.
* Provide basic patient education including prescription usage, immunization information, STD education, lifestyle education for wellness under the direct supervision of a physician.
* Stock and clean exam rooms, clean, wrapping and autoclaving instruments, file records, instrument and monitor calibration, QA maintenance and help maintain medication cupboards.
* Perform patient follow-up as directed by the physician and schedule referral appointments and respond to patient messages.
Required qualifications for this position include:
* Graduate from a medical assistant program.
* National Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant required.
* Working knowledge of the principles of medical assisting with knowledge of the behavior and needs of patients. 
* Knowledge of commonly used medications and their effects.
* Knowledge of medical terminology and equipment.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
* Ancillary health care training program certificate preferred. 
* One or more years experience in a physician office or clinical setting preferred.
* Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
