Title: Medical Language Specialist 1
Location: Oregon-Portland

Providence is calling an on-call Medical Language Specialist 1 for a rotating/variable shift position at Providence Office Park in Portland, OR.

In this position, you will:

* Transcribe various medical and surgical reports as dictated by medical staff to be used as patient care/legal documentation for medical records.
* Perform all duties in a manner, which promotes team concept and reflects the Providence Health System mission and philosophy.

Required qualifications for this position include:

* High school graduate or GED equivalent.
* Accurate transcription meeting or exceeding production and quality standards.
* Basic knowledge of medical and surgical terminology, with basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, pathology and all medical and surgical subspecialties.
* Excellent command of English grammar and spelling.
* Recent, full-time experience transcribing various medical and surgical and other single specialty reports in a hospital or clinic setting.
* Six months of experience required or graduation from a one-to-two year medical transcription program with an internship of 240 hours.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

* Certified Medical Transcriptionist preferred.
