Providence is calling a full-time  Manager-Vivarium  for a day shift position at Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland, OR. 

In this position, you will:

* Support the Institute's research mission, goals and objectives including responsibility for the proper and humane care of research animals; responsibility for oversight of the animal facility support functions and operations, including purchase, quarantine, breeding, care and disposal of animals; advising investigators in proper experimental design regarding animal welfare and veterinary concerns; provision of veterinary care to research animals.
* Coordinate inspections and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations and requirements of other agencies related to research animal care; serving as a member of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC).
* Be responsible for budget preparation and adherence. 
Required qualifications for this position include:
* Reguries veterinary and management skills.
* Requires that the individual possess solid leadership skills and foster a team-like atmosphere while managing day-to-day work of vivarium staff.
* Requires experience in the daily management a vivarium and the care for small laboratory animals, including breeding mice.
* Requires strong leadership skills.
* Knowledge in the planning for and running of SPF mouse facility.
* Requires that the individual have excellent administrative skills.
* Requires that the individual have excellent interpersonal skills.
* Knowledge of environmental, biosafety, and accident prevention measures.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills, including computer skills.
