Coding Technician - Seward in Seward Alaska United States

Title: Coding Technician - Seward
Location: Alaska-Seward
Providence is calling a temporary coding technician at Providence Seward Medical Center in Seward, AK.
This position is temporary and expected to last no more than six months.

In this position, you will:
* Assign ICD-9-CM, CPT codes to patient records.
* Appropriately prioritize principle and secondary diagnoses and procedures in accordance with Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant and PAMC policy.
* Abstract information from patient records using a variety of procedures and alphabetic/numeric systems.
* Demonstrate proficiency in execution of assigned job duties.
* Research various reports to complete the coding portion of patient records.
* Ensure data integrity while performing the coding process.
Qualifications for this position include:
* High school education or equivalent required.
* Certified Coding Specialist, Registered Health Information Technician preferred or enrolled in the coding program.
* One year coding experience in acute care hospital setting strongly preferred.
* Experience with operation of standard office equipment.
* Keyboarding skills of 30 wpm.
* Must be able to visually distinguish colors.
