Title: Laboratory and Pathology Manager
Location: California-Torrance

Providence is calling a Laboratory and Pathology Manager to Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro in San Pedro, CA.
We are seeking a Laboratory and Pathology Manager

In this position you will:

* Manage the clinical operation and outcomes of Laboratory and Pathology Services.
* Areas of responsibility include General Laboratory Testing, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, Transfusion Medicine, Microbiology, Anatomic Pathology, Cytology and Regulatory Compliance.
* Operational responsibilities include the monitoring and control of the day-to-day operations; supervision of Clinical Laboratory Scientists, Laboratory Technicians, Cytologist and Pathology Assistants assigned to their section and evaluation of employee performance.
* The Clinical Operations Manager recommends to the Consolidated Laboratory Director, personnel actions including promotion, demotion, and disciplinary action and termination.
* Interviews and recommends new staff for hire.
* Responsible for maintaining supplies, materials and equipment while operating within the guidelines of the budget.
* Responsible for developing and monitoring the annual budget for his/her areas of responsibility.
* Acts as a liaison with the users of laboratory services and other hospital departments and organizational personnel.
* Develops, maintains and coordinates laboratory policies and procedures for quality improvement, risk management and laboratory compliance.
* Prioritizes all duties and adheres to established turn-around times for routine, urgent, STAT, timed and batched procedures for all duties assigned.
* To work 25% on the bench as needed.
* In conjunction with the medical director, directs and coordinates the activities of the Pathology and transfusion services, blood donor center and other transfusion-related services

Required qualifications for this position include:
* Valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license.
* Must meet CLIA requirements for Technical Supervisor
* Four years CLS experience in general laboratory and respective specialty.
* Experience in a hospital laboratory.
* Clear communication in English, both orally and in writing.
* Must meet the physical requirements of this job listed on the RU-91 form.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:
* ASCP or equivalent certification.
* Masters degree in medical technology or related science.
* At least one year prior experience in hospital laboratory management.
