Medical Laboratory Scientist in Valdez Alaska United States

Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist
Location: Alaska-Valdez
Providence is calling a medical laboratory scientist for the Laboratory at Providence Valdez Medical Center in Valdez, AK.

In this position, you will:
* Collect and prepare specimens, such as blood, body fluids and tissues according to established procedures and doctor's orders.
* Have a working knowledge in all phases of medical laboratory technology including phlebotomy, chemistry, serology, blood banking, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis and micro-biology.
* Be responsible for record keeping procedures and laboratory send-out procedures.
* Assist in organizing the activities of the Laboratory including policies and procedures, budget preparation, directing workflow and managing stocks and supplies.
* Participate in QC/QI for area of specialty and lab indicators and take corrective action to correct equipment malfunction or when testing deficiencies are noted.
* Identify real or potential situations or equipment failure, investigates and attempt to resolve within area of specialty or knowledge.
Qualifications for this position include:
* Bachelors Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology or in the chemical or biological sciences.
* MT or CLS certification from ASCP or NCA required.
* Successful candidates will have previously uses microscopes in hematology and microbiology.
* Must be available to work days, nights and weekends.Job: Lab & Lab Support
